More than 100 tenants living in an apartment complex in Dundrum have been forced to vacate their homes within 10 days after it was discovered that the building is in breach of fire regulations.

The apartment complex which overlooks Dundrum Town Centre, was completed in 2008 is currently in receivership with debts of about €50 million. The receiver has been renting out the apartments to tenants who will now have to find alternative accommodation for three months while repair works are completed. Unlike the owner-occupiers of Priory Hall, who were evacuated from their north Dublin housing scheme last year due to fire safety concerns, the residents of The Laurels are all renting.
