The Admiral Brown Statue is currently located on Admiral Brown Walk in Dublin’s Docklands. However according to a planning application notice attached to the statue it is to be moved to a different location. I had a look at the new location and I believe that it is a better sit as more people are likely to see it.
On September 27th at 6.30 pm An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern unveiled a very special statue honouring the Irish seaman. Also launched the same day was the long awaited book “Ireland’s Son, Argentina’s Hero: The Story of Admiral William Brown” by Marcus Aguinas, translated from Spanish into English by well-known producer and writer Bill Tyson.
Admiral Brown is acknowledged as the "Father Of The Argentine Navy". He and his exploits and heroism are acknowledged as having influenced the course of history. In Argentina, where his name is revered and honoured, he swept the invading Spanish fleet from the River Plate in 1814, he struck a resounding blow at the domination and prestige of Spain in South America, and cleared the way for the independence and free development of the Republic of Argentina. Schools, football clubs, streets and places are all named after this valiant Irish hero.
